Mentoring

We are pleased to offer academic mentoring specifically for Economics students, focusing on academic enrichment and career planning. Professor Alfonso Rodriguez will provide guidance on understanding Economics course descriptions, preparing for graduate school, and exploring career options in fields such as economics, finance, and policy. Whether you're planning for advanced studies or exploring career opportunities, this mentoring service will support your long-term goals.

Please note, this service is distinct from the role of academic advisors, as it does not cover course mapping for graduation, course requirements, or prerequisites for specific classes. For those needs, please consult with your academic advisor.

Office Hours

Spring 2205: department office hours will be held every other Tuesday from 12:30-1:30 pm, in DM 313A.

Dr. Demet Yilmazkuday (dyilmazk@fiu.edu) is available by appointment for the following:

  • Course equivalency
  • General information-Economic courses
  • Faculty mentoring
  • Questions in regards to Major/Minor program

Tutoring Lab

The Department of Economics will be offering tutoring both in person and via Zoom.

In person (VH-136) and virtual

  • Mondays from 9a – 1p, 2p – 5p
  • Tuesdays from 9a – 1p, 2p – 4p
  • Wednesdays from 9a – 12p, 1:30p – 5p
  • Thursdays from 9a – 5p
  • Fridays from 10a – 3p
