Job Outlook for Economists

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Occupational Outlook Handbook (online for 2023), the median annual wage for economists was $115,730 in May 2023. The highest 10 percent earned more than $216,900 and the lowest 10 percent earned less than $62,520.

Employment of economists is projected to grow 6 percent from 2022 to 2032, faster than the average for all occupations.
